The countdown to Christmas is already well under way. The lights in Via del Corso have been turned on, the tree known as Spezzacchio has arrived in Piazza Venezia, and the capital is organising a series of activities to entertain children.
This year shopping trips with one's parents will be a lot of fun: the Cartoon Christmas Lights shine in Via dei Condotti. The lighting adornments for the holiday season are inspired by the top shows on Cartoon Network and Boomerang. Until 20 January 2019 the exhibition Pixar. 30 Years of Animation takes children on a journey of discovery of how some of the most-loved characters, such as Woody from Toy Story, Nemo, Rémy from Ratatouille, Joy and Sadness from Inside Out, were created. While people have until 6 January to visit Roma fumettara which celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Roman comic school, a unique entity in Italian publishing.
At the Casina di Raffaello in Villa Borghese you can get reduced-price entrance with a season ticket and regional ticket from Trenitalia, and you can begin to create. You can make Christmas tree decorations until 23 December every Thursday at 2:30pm and Saturday and Sunday at 4:30pm, in the Un bel Natale! workshop. Also, until 6 January, you can visit Il gioco dell’oca, the exhibition focussing the Game of Goose, the much-loved board game with its history stretching back hundreds of years. A trip between old games and instructive panels, and including contemporary reinterpretations of the iconic spiral track.

The unmissable events around Christmas include Natale Auditorium: as well as concerts, shows and the gospel music festival, in the foyer you can wander around the market of hand-crafted products, while outside, in the Cavea, you can skate on the ice rink.
